During European Archaeology Days at Lipowiec Castle, participants will be able to take part in a scientific conference devoted to the latest research in the context of the planned conservation renovation. In addition, a rich artistic and scientific program will take us back to the times of medieval life at Lipowiec Castle and the most important episodes from its history.

The scientific conference entitled "The latest research results at Lipowiec Castle in the context of the planned
conservation renovation" is an event devoted to current discoveries and analyses related to the history and structure of one of the most valuable monuments in the region. During the meeting,the results of archaeological, architectural and conservation research will be presented, which constitute an important basis for the planned renovation and securing of the castle. The conference is addressed to specialists, history enthusiasts and all those interested in cultural
heritage. The meeting will be an opportunity to exchange knowledge and reflect on the future of Lipowiec Castle.

Demonstration
Excavations of the Lipowiec Castle site
During the entire duration of the event, archaeological excavations will be held in the outer courtyard of the Castle, with a presentation of equipment, research methods and research results. Participants of the event will be able to personally try out the operation of a metal detector, familiarize themselves with the techniques and methods of conducting research. An exhibition illustrating the research in 2023-2024 will be held in the Castle refectory, along with a presentation of the discovered artifacts.

Reenactment of the Defense of Lipowiec Castle against the troops of Władysław's Łokietek
During the historical event, a besieging camp will be set up on the castle grounds, with a shelter, five tents and camp equipment such as a fireplace, tables, benches, dishes and everyday objects. Historical reenactors will lead the everyday life of old armies there – including cleaning weapons, repairing clothes and inspecting armaments. Visitors will be able to see elements of armour and take photos in them. Nearby, there will be a medieval armoury with the possibility of trying on and taking photos in armour, helmets and with swords, axes, maces and shields.
The programme also includes realistic knightly combat tournaments, held in specially prepared lists. There will be an archery show, during which archery techniques and the history and use of different types of bows will be presented. The next point will be a display of siege engines – such as scorpions and onagers – along with their use to fire on the castle and commentary on their construction and use in the Middle Ages.
The culmination of the event will be a reenactment of the attack on the castle, based on historical events from 1300–1304, when the castle was besieged by the troops of Władysław the Elbow-high. As part of this spectacle, fights on the bridge leading to the upper castle, firing at it with engines and bows, and an introductory story with historical context will be available.
Throughout the event, workshops of old crafts will be available, conducted at three stations – e.g. blacksmithing, pottery or others to choose from. Participants will also be able to actively engage in preparations for the siege, using special stations for archery, throwing a safe spear at a target and fighting with training swords in protective helmets.

Historical camp
At the event site, a shelter and 5 tents and camp equipment such as a fireplace, tables, benches, dishes, everyday objects will be set up. Normal old life will take place in the camp: reenactors will clean weapons, repair clothes, and inspect weapons. The audience at the camp stand will be able to view weapons and take photos of themselves in them.

Performance of Teatr Trójkąt with the play The Book of the Jester – a plebeian morality play
The play "The Book of the Jester - a Plebeian Morality" is a reconstruction of a late medieval puppet theatre, based on an original text containing elements of traditional morality themes treated in a perversely funny way. The central figure of the jester, Figraszek, is inscribed in the function of a popular hero, dealing with all issues using intelligence and a sense of humor, in contrast to most traditional heroes, who solve everything with brute force.
